SEDC Letter of Appreciation for Another Successful B2B Meeting in 2012

The Shoreham Economic Development Committee (SEDC) would like to thank the residents and business persons of our community who joined us for the Second Annual, Business-to-Business Meeting held on January 29th at the Shoreham Elementary School. This event brought together over twenty local entrepreneurs to discuss ideas and strategies for strengthening the economic vitality of our community and raising the visibility of services and resources available to friends, neighbors, discerning customers, and visitors. Shoreham’s diverse and mufti-dimensional character was well-represented by individuals whose business interests range from agricultural enterprise including an expanding array of locally grown and produced farm products (pies, cider, yogurt, organic meats and eggs, berries, apples, maple syrup and candies), creative craftsmanship and artistry, home improvement/trades, to entrepreneurs who serve a wide range of industries while working locally and remotely.

We also would like to extend a special thank you to our guest speakers: Andy Mayer, President of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce; Robin Scheu, Executive Director of the Addison County Economic Development Corporation; and  Sarah Kearns, Consultant to the Vermont Small Business Development Center. All three speakers outlined a number of ways in which their organizations are positioned to support the growth and development of small businesses here in Addison County. For all in attendance, it was very valuable to learn about the resources these organizations provide—many of which are free—to help small businesses secure loan funds, establish a web presence, build a successful marketing campaign, and develop networks of support as well as opportunities for collaboration with others.

The SEDC looks forward to an exciting year ahead. News of our activities, featured businesses, and a schedule of upcoming meetings can be found on the Town of Shoreham website (www.shorehamvt.org) and newsletter. All SEDC meetings are open to Shoreham citizens and volunteers are always welcome!

Sincerely,

Valerie Szymkowicz
